Greetings, Patrons of the Paranormal!

One of our hopes is that people who are fascinated with the story of Gorman Ranch, the work of Dr. Colm Kelleher and George Knapp, and those just curious about unexplainable paranormal and extraterrestrial occurrences in general will find this BOOM! Direct Reserve campaign to try out their first, or first in a long while, graphic novel.

Here at BOOM! Studios HQ, we live, breathe, and dream in sequential art. We believe graphic fiction is one of the most effective and powerful ways to communicate stories and we love creating new fans of comic books and graphic novels every single day. So to kick off the week, we wanted to take a moment to talk about the HUNT FOR THE SKINWALKER graphic novel!

In adapting Kelleher and Knapp’s groundbreaking investigative work, our goal is to deliver a compelling, captivating story in the tradition of our favorite “inspired by a true story” comics, movies, and TV shows. Writer Zac Thompson and artist Valeria Burzo will weave together the horrifying experiences of the Gorman family, the scientific investigation conducted on the massive ranch property, and even stories from the greater Uintah Basin… and for the first time, visualize in gripping four-color the bizarre occurrences and phenomena for you to not only read about, but experience. We hope to transport you to the infamous Gorman Ranch to not only learn about the real-world, documented events, but also put you in the shoes of those who experienced them first hand. We think the HUNT FOR THE SKINWALKER graphic novel will not only act as a great introduction to the world of Gorman Ranch for the uninitiated, but a perfect companion piece to the expanded and updated Declassified Edition of the original book.

Before we wrap up for today, it’s our pleasure to formally introduce you to the team behind this work of graphic fiction.

Zac Thompson burst onto the comic scene five years ago, in addition to being a screenwriter, novelist, and journalist for outlets including Bloody Disgusting, VICE, and Huffington Post. As a comic writer, he has penned tales for critically-acclaimed independent titles including The Dregs (Black Mask Studios), No One’s Rose (Vault Comics), and Undone By Blood (Aftershock Comics) as well as commercial hits for Marvel Comics including Yondu, Ka-Zar: Lord Of The Savage Land, and X-Men Unlimited.

Rising star Valeria Burzo has already worked with two legendary creators on her first two projects – Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy, and Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell. Burzo was hand-selected to illustrate Mignola’s Castle Full Of Blackbirds set in the famous Hellboy universe and also illustrated another graphic novel based on a true story – The Witches of World War II, written by Cornell. Together we think they are the perfect pair to transport us to Gorman Ranch!
